Reflections from a successful swing state tour!

Ahoy 1-800 FANS!  

We were so very grateful for the amazing turnout and all the love and support in Grand Rapids, Milwaukee, La Crosse, Madison, and Ann Arbor!!!  It was thrilling to be able to bring the film to folks in these swing states in person, with Ani, and talk with everyone face to face and mutually inspire each other to do everything we can to elect our first woman president!!  We also raised a LOT of money for Emily’s List during these screenings!    

So, a million thank-yous to all the good people who made it happen and especially the audience, who were (true to form, as most Ani audiences are) the most amazing people ever.   

Meanwhile, we are continuing with our theatrical tour through April of 2025 (next week we will be in Cary, North Carolina, St Petersburg, Florida and London, England).  Film team members will be in attendance at select shows. But as many of you know, like Righteous Babe Records, we are a shoe-string, tiny independent operation, so we need your help! At the screenings where we’re not able to attend, we are hoping to try something new: we’re looking for local “surrogates” to be hosts of the film.  

What does it mean to be a surrogate? This means if you live in a community where there is an upcoming screening you can work with us to spread the word, build excitement, and get folks to the screening. You know your community better than we do!  

The surrogate “action points”:

• Director Dana Flor and producer Amy Hobby will do a short zoom with surrogates to talk through ideas and local organizations we’ve identified.

• Your name, or organization name, will appear as a sponsor or co-sponsor on the film slide at the cinema.  And you will be listed on our website with the screening information.

• You’ll receive a special merch package in the mail as a Thank You for getting out the word.  

If you have friends who are Ani fans in the cities listed below, or know of like-minded folks and/or organizations there? Can you reach out to them and connect us?  For each and every city so far, we’ve found groups and people aligned with Ani’s mission-folks involved with women’s reproductive freedom, queer-friendly organizations/establishments, music schools/stores and progressive coffee shops to cite a few.  We’re hoping that city by city, we’ll not only be able to show our film but to inspire people with Ani’s activism while supporting and giving a shout out to like-minded groups every place we go.
